Capacity for Application of Participatory Urban Planning
Field of expertise: Promoting principles of good governance, transparency and public participation in decision-making at local and central government level.
Project Summary: CUPA aimed to improve communication between NGOs and local and central administration in order to facilitate urban development policy making.
Objectives:
• Increasing the knowledge and skills of partner organizations members (especially in urban development, mechanisms for public participation, public communication and inter - institutional decision-making transparency) in order to improve partnerships with institutional actors;
• Developing the NGOs' capacity of communication with both citizens and public institutions (by training members and volunteers);
• Improving dialogue with institutional actors in order to develop and implement legislation on urban development, to involve citizens in public consultations held by the authorities, in accordance with recent legislative changes;
• Promoting and integrating the principles of sustainable development and equal opportunities in current activities of partner organizations.
Reinforcement of Platform for Bucharest – Stronger Voices for Sustainable Urban Development
Promoting the principles of good governance, decisional transparency and public participation in decision-making at local and central government level.
The Platform for Bucharest is a coalition of 42 NGOs, united in order to enforce sustainable development principles at local administration level in Bucharest as well as at the level of the central public authorities.
Objectives:
1. Shaping the interior structure of the coalition in order to ease decision - making procedures and activity coordination.
2. Achieving improved means of exterior communication and reinforcing the Platforms rapport with citizens and public authorities.
PARTICIPATORY URBANISM
Participatory urbanism promotes new styles and methods for individual citizens to become proactive in their involvement with their city, neighborhood, and urban self-reflexivity.

Promoting Instruments for Participation through E-media: Local, Integrated, New, Efficient
Through PIPE:LINE - Promoting Instruments for Participation through E-media: Local, Integrated, New, Efficient, Asociația pentru Tranziție Urbană (ATU), in partnership with Odaia Creativă, Poiana lui Iocan, Bucharest City Hall and Northern Urban Design Association (NUDA) seek to address the disparities pertaining to public participation in urban planning policies.
PIPE:LINE aims at improvement of the quality of the decision-making process in urban planning for the citizens of Bucharest and the local public authorities.
Main results include the development of specific methodologies for real-time data gathering, an urban investigation kit tailor-made for existing urban planning documents, a mobile interactive installation, engaged citizens in a multitude of events connected with the mobile installation and an auction for the transfer of know-how towards the local public authorities.
